Paul A. Samuelson (1915-2009)

Awarded the Prize “for the scientific work through which he has developed static dynamic economic theory actively contributed to raising the level of analysis in economic science.”

American economist. Samuelson was born on May 15, 1915 at Gary, Indiana. He received the degree of Bachelor from Chicago University in 1935, the degrees of M.A. in 1936 Ph.D. in 1941 from Harvard University. He was a Social Science Research Council predoctoral fellow from 1935 to 1937, a member of the Society of Fellows, Harvard University, from 1937 to 1940, a Ford Foundation Research Fellow from 1958 to 1959. He was appointed Professor at M.I.T. in 1947 was an Institute Professor there. He was a member of the American Academy of Arts Sciences, a fellow of the American Philosophical Society. Samuelson died on 13 December, 2009 in Belmont, Massachusetts.?
