Karl Gunnar Myrdal (1898-1987)

Awarded the Prize “for pioneering work in the theory of money economic fluctuations for his penetrating analysis of the interdependence of economic, social institutional phenomena.”

Swedish economist. Myrdal was born on December 6, 1898 at Gustafs, Sweden. He graduated from the Law School of Stockholm University in 1923 received his juris doctor degree in economics in 1927. He was appointed Professor at the Stockholm University. He founded the Institute for International Economic Studies at the Stockholm University. He was Chairman of the Board of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. Myrdal died on May 17, 1987 in Stockholm.
