Friedrich von Hayek (1899-1992)

Awarded the Prize “for pioneering work in the theory of money economic fluctuations for his penetrating analysis of the interdependence of economic, social institutional phenomena.”

British economist. Hayek was born on May 8, 1899 at Vienna, Austria. He received Dr. jur. In 1921 Dr. rer. pol. in 1923, both at University of Vienna. From 1927 to 1931 he was Director of Austrian Institute for Trade Cycle Research; from 1931-1950, Tooke Professor of Economic Science Statistics at University of London; from 1950-1962, Professor of Social Moral Science at University of Chicago; from 1962-1968, Professor at Albert-Ludwigs-Universitat. Hayek died on March 23, 1992 at Freiburg, Germany.
