Bertil Ohlin (1899-1979)

Awarded the Prize “for his pathbreaking contribution to the theory of international trade international capital movements.”

Swedish economist. Ohlin was born on April 23, 1899 at Klippan, Sweden. He graduated from University of Lund the Stockholm School of Economics. He was appointed to Chair of Economics at Copenhagen University in 1925. In 1930 he moved to the Stockholm School of Economics where he remained until his retirement in 1965. He was a Member of Parliament from 1938 until 1970 Chairman of the Swedish Liberal Party for many years. Ohlin died on August 3, 1979 at Valadalen, Sweden.
