Richard Stone (1913-1991)

Awarded the Prize “for having made fundamental contributions to the development of systems of national acs hence greatly improved the basis for empirical economic analysis.”

British economist. Stone was born on August 30, 1913 in London. He started his career at Cambridge University as an undergraduate, then obtained a D.Sc., became a Fellow eventually Emeritus Professor there. He held visiting posts at different institutions around the world, including Princeton’s Center for Advanced Study. Stone died on December 6, 1991 at Cambridge.

National Income Expenditure (co-author, 1944); The Role of Measurement in Economics (1951); The Measurement of Consumers’ Expenditure Behaviour in the United Kingdom 1920-1938 (co-author 1954)
