Maurice Allais (1911-2010)
Awarded the Prize “for his pioneering contributions to the theory of markets efficient utilization of resources.”French economist. Allais was born on May 31, 1911 in Paris, France. He was educated at the école Polytechnique the école Nationale Suprieure des Mines in Paris, in 1944 he became director of the Centre d’Analyseconomique at the école Nationale Suprieure. In 1949 he received his Doctor - Engineer degree from the University of Paris. From 1946-1980 he was Director of a Research Unit of National Centre for Scientific Research from 1947-1968 he was Professor of Theoretical Economics, Institute of Statistics. He was also a professor at the University of Geneva. In 1970 he became Director of Seminar of Monetary Analysis at the University of Paris-X. Allais died in Saint-Cloud, France on October 9, 2010.
