Merton H. Miller (1923-2000)
Awarded the Prize “for his pioneering work in the theory of financial economics.”American ecomonist. Miller was born May 16, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from Harvard University in 1944. He took his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1952, then he was appointed as Visiting Assistant Lecturer at the London School of Economics. In 1953 he joined Carnegie Institute of Technology went to Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago in 1961, becoming Robert R. McCormick Distinguished Service Professor. Miller died on June 3, 2000 in Chicago.
