Gary S. Becker (1930-2014)
Awarded the Prize “for having extended the domain of microeconomic analysis to a wide range of human behaviour interaction, including nonmarket behaviour.”American economist. Becker was born on December 2, 1930 at Pottsville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Princeton University in 1951 gained his M.A. in 1953 his Ph.D. in 1955, both from the University of Chicago. He was professor at Columbia at Chicago. He was elected President of the American Economic Association. Becker died on May 4, 2014 in Chicago.
